Storyline:
A wealthy family faces numerous problems and reunites with their long-lost relatives to pray to their deity for solutions, unaware it will reawaken the feud between a classical dancer, Chandramukhi and Vettaiyan Raja from centuries ago. The matriarch of a large and wealthy family is Ranganayaki. Her family includes her elder brother, Suresh Menon, his son, Ravi Mariya along with his family, Ranganayki’s younger brother, Vignesh, and his family. Ranganayaki has four daughters, Gayathri, Priya and Divya but her elder daughter elopes with her lover, causing the family to disown her. Both she and her husband perish in a plane crash. In addition to this tragedy, the family’s factory goes up in flames due to an unknown reason, and Divya becomes wheelchair-bound after a car accident, leading to the postponement of her engagement. These hardships prompt Ranganayki to consult their family astrologer, Guruji. Guruji advises the family to perform a prayer at their family deity temple in Vettaiyapuram to resolve their issues. He informs that the entire family, including the demised elder daughter’s children should also be present for this event. The children, orphaned after the plane crash, are now cared for by Pandiyan. The family reluctantly brings them along to Vettaiyapuram. They rent the Vettaiyapuram Palace for 48 days, which has been under the care of the new owner, Murugesan, and Senthil’s uncle after Senthilnathan’s family moved out 17 years ago. The family moves in, but Murugesan warns them not to go to the southern part of the palace, where Chandramukhi’s room is located.
Despite the warning, Priya ventures into the southern part of the palace and ends up in Vettaiyan’s courtroom, where Ramachandra Aachariyar once warded off Chandramukhi’s spirit from Ganga’s body. Priya releases Chandramukhi’s spirit from the rangoli when she blows the dust from Chandramukhi’s anklet bead. Meanwhile, the family arrives at the temple to find it in a dilapidated state. A sage appears and tells them that the temple needs to be cleansed to control “her.” The temple priest warns them to return back where they came from, but they disregard his advice. Ranganayaki calls contractors to clean the premises, but two of them die during the process, causing the others to back off. During the night, strange sounds of singing and talking fill the palace. In response, Murugesan and Pandiyan call a fake priest to cast out the evil, but the fake priest is left shocked. Ravi Mariya and Vignesh encounter a woman who shouts at them in Telugu, and they quickly flee. Pandiyan’s attempts to clean the temple result in a fire that lights the temple, unleashing Vettaiyan, much to Chandramukhi’s dismay, causing chaos in the palace. Pandiyan eventually returns and informs the family that Chandramukhi has possessed one of the women in the family. Murugesan said similar incident happened 17 years ago and when Guruji comes, Murugesan says the whole story of Ganga’s psychological problem, imagining herself as Chandramukhi but now, the real Chandramukhi is unleashed. They all go to Vettaiyan’s courtroom where Ramachandra Achariyar had previously cured Ganga along with Saravanan. Seeing the place, Guruji says that someone has already entered the room, unleashing Chandramukhi for real. Priya fears that she is the victim due to her earlier actions, but it turns out to be Divya. Divya miraculously regains the ability to walk, much to her happiness, but the family is concerned about her. Guruji later says that Divya had collected a bead from Chandramukhi’s anklet which had allowed for the possession to happen. Meanwhile, Pandiyan discovers a secret room below Vettaiyan’s room and becomes possessed. Divya attempts to harm Ranganayaki and her niece and nephew, but her efforts fail.
